ECC President to Serve on National Commission

Dr. Greg McLeod

Dr. Greg McLeod, president of 91Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ, has been appointed to the American Association of Community Colleges’ (AACC) Commission on Small, Rural and Regional Resilience, providing a national platform to advocate for the needs of rural community colleges.

The AACC is the leading advocacy organization for more than 1,000 community colleges and associate-degree-granting institutions nationwide. The Commission on Small, Rural and Regional Resilience is one of six AACC commissions that advise the organization’s Board of Directors. The commission focuses on supporting under-resourced institutions by identifying innovative strategies that promote economic growth, resource sharing and broadband access.

“Small and rural colleges like Edgecombe help communities adapt, grow and thrive in the face of economic change, natural disasters and workforce challenges,” McLeod said. “This appointment gives me the opportunity to bring eastern North Carolina’s rural perspective to national policy discussions while also bringing back innovative ideas, proven strategies and best practices that can strengthen workforce development and economic opportunity in our region.”

McLeod’s appointment was made by the AACC Board of Directors. In this role, he will help provide guidance and insight that supports the board’s efforts to serve community colleges across the country.
